Adding The Melody

Description

In this first lesson, we’re going to look at a descending melody. Keep in mind, we’re going to need to start being flexible with our picking patterns, because now we’re accommodating a melody. So our patterns will get switched up a bit, however the foundational principles are still the same.

Our descending melody is G (3rd fret on the high E string), F (1st fret on the E string), and open high E. (Since these notes are on the E string, we’ll let our right hand ring finger pick them). We’ll play them in that order, and when you play the open E, form a C chord and play “Pinch-1-2-1-Pinch”. Play this twice, then switch to Am7 and play the same thing twice.
