In this lesson we'll look at fretting hand muting techniques from the perspective of beginner skill level. It's really important to work muting techniques into your playing as soon as possible. If you do this as a beginner, then it will be a lot easier down the road as you gain knowledge and skill. Your muting technique will become automatic, second nature to you quicker. This in turn will allow you to make progress more quickly and add a layer of polish, precision and musicality to your guitar playing!
We'll discuss three important picking hand muting techniques.
1. Tips of your fingers to mute adjacent strings.
2. Pads & underside of your fingers to mute adjacent strings.
3. Thumb to mute strings.
