Minor and Major Pentatonics

First let's find our minor pentatonic pattern, and once we have that, we'll locate the key major notes within it. Let's say we're in the key of C. Then our regular major pentatonic pattern would be below the root note.

The easiest way to find the minor pentatonic pattern is to move your major pentatonic pattern up 3 half steps so the pattern is above the root note.

Once you do that you'll notice that this happens in the same position as your E major shaped barre chord, which makes it even easier to find.

Take a little while to go back and forth between playing the full major chord and exploring the notes in the minor pentatonic pattern. Hear how tense and bluesy they sound?!
