what would be a good pedal to give my amps overdrive a little more bite for a little heavier sound for lead and chunkier rythme. I'll be using the pedal with a peavey classic 50. I love the amps distortion, but sometimes wish for a little more bite. also to add a boost to the clean channel to make it break up some. Any suggestions?

I actually borrowed a compressor pedal from my friend and used it with the amp sound (no effects) and it gave it a real unexpected boost to the sound, maybe you could try that. The thing is, the compressor pedal was apparently meant for bass guitar.

Check out the Fulltone Full Drive II:

http://www.fulltone.com/FD2.asp

It has an overdrive, then a boost on top of that, as well as a straight signal boost (comp-cut) that boosts your current signal...in other words...if you like the tone of your amp, use the comp cut to crank it some more during solos.

An Ibanez Tubescreamer TS-9. I use it for that exact purpose. It adds alot more chunk to my Laney 100w Tube head's gain channel.

I'm sure a compressor would help as well.

I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a tubescreamer, boss blues drive, or boss super overdrive. I got to hear the super overdrive this weekend and it gave the guy a sweet lead boost.

There all good, but i wouldnt get blues driver...its more smooth and mellowed. I would recommend tube scream for that good old rock n roll growl but probably think that boss super drive is better suited to todays overdrive. There are other boss overdrive pedals so chekc them out as well.
WWSD? What would stevie do?
