Hey,

I am a newbie and have developed calluses on my fingers. The one on my index finger is especially thick and keeps getting caught on the the thinnner B and E strings.

Shoudl I trya and cut it off of the finger or just let it heal over?

Calluses are a good thing.  DON'T cut them off.

If they are 'getting  caught' on strings, lightly file them smooth with an emery board or, even better, a glass fingernail file (same applies to fingernails).

Good luck, have fun.
