Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone knew of someone who was selling a Chapman Stick (12 string model) second-hand or if you knew of any west coast retailers in the British Columbia, Canada area?

I have really taken a liking to the sound of these instruments and was thinking about purchasing one.

Thanx,

and we all wait excitedly for Azrael's answer....
To improve technique and of course trying to keep all as clean as possible. I know my own limits and speed limits and so on I never play anything I'm not capable of. That wouldn't make any sense. After three years of playing I tried to play everything as fast as possible and that sounded, I would say, like shit, and I didn't realize that if I'd play bit slower things than I was capable of playing then everything would sound much better.

Well .. *LOL* what can i say - i´m in Europe so dont expect me to know anything about used sticks in your area. but there is a mailinglist for stickplayers - you might find someone there. other than that i would strongly recommend to get a new instrument! but see if you can find someone where yo ucan try the stick first - you will discover that this instrument is VERY different to everything else *L*
oh yes - i´m not selling mine! *LOL*
the mailinglist is called "Stickwire" i think

The instrument usually comes along with a case ,a replacement set of strings and Emmett´s "Free Hands" book - but i STRONGLY recommend that you get Bob Culbertsons 3 instructional Videos!! they are very important!!

Actually, I heard some mp3s of Greg Howard and really enjoy his technique. I will check out Bob Culbertson. Who else can you recommend for good stick musicians?

Greg is cool - i met him in frankfurt and he´s a realy nice guy with alot of good ideas on the stick - but i guess Bob Culbertson is one of the most experienced players on this instrument. you might also wanna check Larry Tuttle, Don Schiff, Emmett Chapman himself, etc - you´ll find alot of stickists on http://www.stick.com

I know Tony Levin had the gig for awhile, but didn't they replace him? I saw a concert video of them a couple of months ago and somebody else was playing stick.
