Is the chrome part on my neck pickup (tele) removable?

I would suggest that you unscrew the height adjustment screws, then remove the pickguard, the chrome cover just slides over the p/u, be careful, don't break any wires or connections.........................

When I take off the height adjusting screws (wait a stupid question is coming) will I have to re-set them? Will it wack out my pickup? Do I need to remove the strings?

Just noticed your latest post in Tone&Effects, are you taking the cover off from a humbucker or a single coil?

OK, read your post, alot of covered factory p/u's have glue or solder on them, sometimes a hot soldering iron and a careful steady hand will get the cover loose, be careful if you try it, but if you are going to replace it with a humbucker why bother? I was glad to see that you just got curious and opened it up for a look, too many people are afraid that taking out a few screws will do permanent damage, gotta learn some way!, if a person has enough sense to use a screwdriver, an allen wrench and a soldering iron they can learn to do just about anything to a guitar, just remember if you screw something up, don't blame me, but if you have any questions feel free to ask........

Ya, anything I do is my fault. Yes, I am going to replace it with a humbucker, eventually. Probably later this year. I cannot find many neck replacement humbuckers for Teles. I was thinking of getting the Seymour Duncan DH-1 humbucker. They use it in the Hot Rod Teles, and I love the sound of those. I have played a few at Steve's, on an amp equivalent to mine, so I got a good taste for the sound. Now I jsut need some bucks for an 11-hole pickgaurd,5-way switch, and humbucker.
