Hello Mike,

I was doing the tutorial for Rock Me Baby, the made easy version.

Could I ask you why the high E string became an option? because as well on the C7 chord there should be but you say can be play or not and as also in the song chart is reported not to let it ring.

Is there some theory explanation behind?

Thanks awfully in advance.

Hi Annibale!

It is common to use that C7 fretted shape as a barre chord that can be moved up the neck, as I've done in the tutorial with the F7 and G7 chords. When you move that shape up the neck to make the F7 and G7, you would not want to include the high E string, as that note is not in either the F7 or G7 chord.

So, to keep it simple, I chose to not include the open E string with the C7 chord because I could focus on strumming the same strings during the song (until the final open G7 in the turnaround).

However, if you wanted to, you could add the open E string to the C7, as that note is part of the chord. In short, it is optional to use the open high E string with the C7 chord.

Hope this helps!

Thanks awfully for replying,

got it. No I prefer not to use it cause seems to be better without, I'll try as well making it with the blues shuffle pattern.
