Hi Mike

I was wondering if you could recommend any guitar books that you feel could be of value to a fairly new player. (eg.Mel Bay? Learn and Master? Hal Leonard?) Like in drummimg there are about 5 must have books to master I was wondering about books available for guitar. Really enjoy your Friday sessions, thanks.

Hey RickSticks!! Thanks for tuning into the Friday sessions and the kind words!

Here are a few standards to check out:

Hal Leonard[br]https://www.amazon.com/dp/0634047019/

Mel Bay[br]https://www.amazon.com/Modern-Guitar-Method-Grade-Expanded/dp/0786688599/

That said, any of these types of books are great resources.

Also, any authentic & accurate song books covering songs that you like can also be fun & provide a lot of motivation.

Regardless of which you choose, the most important part is time spent practicing. I've seen too many students get caught up in buying books & resources that it becomes an end in itself. And ultimately a substitute for practicing or an excuse not to practice until finding a better book or the right program. There's simply no substitute for practice.

Hope this helps!
