I love Acoustic Blues too...I've done some of the Made Easy Blue's songs on here. Have you tried any of those yet?

No, not yet Susan. I almost trough Fundamentals 2 and then I will either go the blues track or the rock track. Rock seems to be a bit more in the structure of the Fundamentals series. However, blues hits my bones on a deeper level. But what is rock? Anders makes a good point that this goes from Black Sabbath to The Beatles.
I have not found a good modus yet to also learn songs. So I just follow the paths layed out for me until I get inspired by learning a song. So far I have only been learning "I can't get no (satisfaction)" and "Imagine" because these were recommended during the Fundamentals.

Ah, cool.
I am a little over halfway through Fundamentals 2 and I was also debating on whether to go to Acoustic or Blues. I'm leaning towards Acoustic because I've already dabbled so much in that area, especially the fingerpicking lessons. But I have really enjoyed playing some of the Made Easy BB King and Eric Clapton songs. The Thrill is Gone by BB King is a super easy 12 bar blues. It sounds SO nice, too. I used it as part of my warm up or just straight playing sessions once I learned it. But I can't play at all now because of my left hand/wrist that may need surgery. So that's a bummer! But I'm still watching the lessons for now.

I play only electric at the moment. Fundamentals 1 I did on a cheap acoustic, now for a month or so I am playing a Fender. What a difference!
Most things are just way easier to learn now especially since I build strength on the acoustic.
For me, blues or rock......

It is by all accounts somewhat more in the design of the Fundamentals arrangement. Nonetheless, blues hits my bones on a more profound level. In any case, what is rock? Anders makes a valid statement that this goes from Black Sabbath to The Beatles.

@Tinpan, I had no knowledge at all about the historical significance of "When the Levee Breaks". There have been so many covers of it I just thought and that was due to it being a cool song. Obviously, there is more to it and thank you for pointing that out and the link!
I just wish I could find more time to pick up the acoustic and work on acoustic blues. I, for now, gave up on fingerstyle blues. I just could not make any progress. I hope I keep my promise to myself to go back to it at some point. But just regular acoustic blues is so raw and authentic. I need to figure out how to work some acoustic back in the practice schedule.
This thread got me to thinking about that. Thanks again for the link and thread, Tinpan

I know what you mean. I just plugged my electrics in for years, but now that I've realised how much fun playing acoustic blues can be...I can't put my acoustic down. I need to win lotto so I can play both 24/7!

Compared to my Fender my Washburn is really a terrible acoustic. When Covid is over I will go to a shop to see if it's the brand or if I am just not an acoustic type of player (which seems less likely)

How do I tune my guitar like the instructor does. He tuned his guitar on the key of E. I looked up tuning guitar on the key of E and it sounds nothing like it I must get assistance if I am to do this right.

I started playing guitar when I saw BB King on Austin City Limits and Led Zep-The Song Remains the same (at a midnight movie showing....you did those things in 1981/82).
I'd wanted to play years before but that was an idea in my head. When I saw BB and then Jimmy the same week, it was in my bones to play. It had to happen. I got a quick start and was comfortable pretty quickly and learned chunks of Rush-Fly by Night, them Led Zep-Black Dog. I also started trying to emulate that BB King 'sting' vibrato.
Sadly, a few years later, I got enamored with shred stuff and while not leaving bluesy stuff behind totally, I spent more time trying to be fast...and I was pretty fast. Like that matters. When I really started coming back to playing, I realized that I mostly dig playing tasteful stuff that was more aligned with blues with a little country twang and a touch of jazz.
Underlying all that is the blues. To me, if I was starting down the path as a player and had Guitar Tricks back then, I'd be taking the Blues path here. Instead of trying so hard to be the fastest (and I never was the fastest), I'd have spent that time on Johnny Winter and Howlin' Wolf.

Which instructor? I don't know who tuned his guitar to open E tuning.
But in open E tuning is the 6th through 1st strings are tuned to E, B, E, G#, B and E, respectively. You apparently know this bcause you said you "looked it up". "It sounds nothing like it"? It sounds nothing like what?
I wouldn't be much help anyway as I have never tried alternate tunings. But I'm sorry I'm just not sure what you are asking.
Maybe if you rephrase the question someone can provide a much more intelligent response than I am offering. You might even consider starting a thread about this subject.

Maybe you are getting confused and the instructor in the lesson said the guitar is tuned to E not open E?
If so then it is standard tuning E,A,D,G,B,E

Great point, @fuzzb0x. I went off on my tangent thinking the poster said "Open E tuning" when, in fact, it was probably standard tuning, "tuned to E".
