Hello Mike,

I recently started playing the guitar and I am mixing up learning the basics with some songs. I started on the song Numb by Linkin Park and I am struggling with the clean sound. I put all the knobs to the settings written in the lesson (except for presence, since my amp does not have this option), but the sound is completely different to when you play it.

This is the sound that i get

And here is a photo of the settings on my amp.

I look forward to your response! :)

Edit: i just realised I used the wrong string for the last one .

Hey there! Since all guitarists use different amps, guitars, and effects, my settings are meant to be a starting point to get in the ballpark of the desired tone.

Thanks for sending the picture - I would try this:

Set the AMP control up one click to the BLACK 2x12 setting - this will be a great starting point for a clean sound (Fender Blackface amp). Next turn up the GAIN to around halfway. Turn your MIDDLE control up to around 55 or 60%. All other controls look good where they are set in the picture.

Finally, I would turn on the EFFECTS section, and switch it for REVERB. Use the EDIT 1 knob to control how much of this effect you want to hear. A good starting point is around 45% or so. This should fill out the sound quite a bit, and make it sound closer to what I'm using.

Hope this helps - please let me know how it goes!!

Hello Mike,

Thank you for your response. I tried the changes and the sound is a lot cleaner indeed, thank you very much!
