I am having trouble moving some fingers without the finger next to it moving too. For example it is very hard to move my ring finger to a string without my pinky either moving with it or lifting off the string if it is down on one. Does anyone have any excercises or advice to make it feel like my fingers arent linked and can move alone

Yes, we have a few tutorials aimed at improving finger strength & dexterity! First, have a look at these hand stretching exercises.

Next, tutorials are precisely aimed at building finger strength & dexterity.

Hope that helps. Best of success!
I'm generally wondering what the consensus on these. I've been doing research since I'd like to improve finger independence/speed while at work and I've seen a bunch of differing opinions. Including; they don't work, they work great, they cause carpel tunnel, they don't actually work the right muscles since you don't hold it the same way you hold a guitar, better to use a stress ball/do chin ups, or do general finger independence stuff without a tool.
Wanted to see what you guys think and what experiences you've had with different tools/methods for finger independence, speed, and strength while away from the guitar. Obviously nothing beats playing but it's not always practical.
