He doesn't post for a couple of reasons. He's to fast to be notated or for him to notate himself, He plays in a open c tuning(CGEGCE i think not sure though) which is confusing and he needs help, and he's working on his new album, And contract stuff i think. He's a very cool guy, never turns out on an oppurtunity to help any musician no matter what skill level you are Just like you guys on here.

I have a Dean EVO, an Indiana SG Acoustic, and a kimaxe which is a cheap strat knockoff. Looking to add an Ibanez JEM to my collection when my funds permit.

I have an Ibanez RG570 and a Squier Strat. I used to have a Washburn Electric/Acoustic, but I sold it, it sounded like you were playing through a tin can if you used an amp.

I too am hoping to add a JEM to my collection.

Acoustics
1. a nameless custom made acoustic guitar- my very first acoustic which I got when I was 11 or 12. Sadly my grandmother accidentally sat on it while it was laying peacefully on a sofa- just months after my mum bought it. What a tragic way to die. I'm still mourning for it. She was my first.
2. a "lumanog" guitar which i wrecked during 2nd year highschool when I tried painting it black. I wanted a space theme with illuminating stars on the fret board. ha!
3. Takamine g series (eg560c)- my recording acoustic, the best sounding acoustic that i have. Actually, come to think of it, it's my only working, useful acoustic.
4. 12 string Takamine g series (eg335c)- sadly, it is now hardly playable due to the tremendous bowing of the neck. I can only play slide with it :(

Bass
- i'm not really much of a bass player. just bought it because my bassist at the time don't own a bass.
1. Ibanez Sound Gear
2. Epiphone Viola

Electrics

1. Samick LS 41 D, my first electric guitar which I got when I was 13. I haven't touched this guitar for 3- 4 years now so it needs a lot of work. I'm planning to install a floydrose and seymour duncan full shred when I'm done moding my les paul.

2. Modified Epiphone les paul es (a florentine imitation)- 57 classic and classic plus for neck and bridge, tp- 6 tail piece, grover deluxe tuners, graphtech ghost and hexpander for piezo and synthesizer/midi capabilities, tusq nut, schaller strap locks- this guitar is so versatile and so beautiful sounding, I decided to stop buying anymore guitar after this one. I've found my dream guitar.

Amps
1. A very old Canadian made Granada Amp- my very first amp I got for 30 canadian at cash converters
2. Fender Princeton 65
3. Fender Acoustasonic
3. Vox Brian May Deacy Amp
4. Vox Valvetronix
5. Marshall amp

Effects
1. various boss and dod individual effects pedals- flanger, wahwah, acoustic, metal distortion, grunge etc.
2. Korg ax 1500g (well, actually i'm still waiting for it. i went to my fave music store to buy one but they didnt have one on stock so they ordered it for me)

Other
I have Yorkville speakers
a Yamaha Mixer
a Yamaha keyboard
5 Shure mics
and a CB drumset with sabian b8 pro cymbals (just the basics- i'm not really a drummer. My drummer didnt have drums at that time so I got this cheap one)

I can’t sing so I sing through my guitar. So when the sound guy says: “Your guitar is too loud!” I think: "Why does he never say that to the vocalist?"

A sad truth is that the string tension will inevitably ruin the guitar, either by bowing the neck beyond what the truss rod can compensate, or causing the body to 'belly' by pulling up on the bridge.

Never tune your acoustic 12-string to concert pitch! I recently sold a Daijon 12-string that I bought new in 1977. It stills plays just fine. The reason for this is that it was always tuned in D, two steps down from concert pitch. (D B C F A D) I use a capo on the second fret to restore the pitch to concert E.

My Washburn EA20-12B 12-string electric/acoustic has action comparable to my electric guitars, and shows no signs of getting pulled out of shape.

man, i wish i could've known you 4 years ago lordadastrings. If I only did, I wouldn't have made such a stupid costly mistake! I always tune my 12 strings to concert pitch, and as you have foretold, the bowing of the neck of my 12 string has come to a point where it's beyond repair with tross rod adjustment- unless i change the neck (just got a call from my luthier). And it was a good sounding 12 string too! To make matters worse, I've spent all my money in a built- in chorus effect, a gibson varitone switch, and a korg ax 1500g pedal. I wouldn't have a 12 string in a while. A sad, sad day indeed :(

My condolences...

I got that tip from Mark at The Fret Clinic in Ottawa. I'm somewhat puzzled that a luthier would not have offered the same advice. Is (s)he a recent addition to your circle of friends?

Actually, thinking of it, no one ever told me that you shouldn't be tuning 12 strings to concert pitch. Everyone that I know does it- even the ones I thought they knew a lot of things about guitar. My english teacher for instance-an amazing jazz/ blues guitarist who used to play pro- I always jam with him every after class back in my highschool days and he has noticed the little bow in my guitar but he just told me to have it checked. My luthier back then, when I used to live in scarborough, never mentioned about it. Even my good friend who plays the lead guitar in our band (before he got his hand into an accident) always tunes his yamaha 12 strings to concert pitch and he never gets any problems with it. In fact, his 12 string has outlasted his 6 string. He's the most careful guy when it comes to guitars but somehow, the bridge just popped out from his 6 string. It's good its covered by the warranty so he is getting a new one soon. The only person who told me not to tune my 12 strings into concert pitch besides you is my current luthier who has done the mods in my main guitar but he gave me this advice when all was already too late- the neck was already beyond repair. But I guess I've learned my lesson. Right now I'm just thinking about my korg ax 1500g so that i can cope with my loss.

Guitars:

1991 Ibanez RG770 Deluxe blue. Matching sharkfins, maple
fretboard, binding. Equipped w/ Evolutions.

1986 Hamer Phantom A5 USA all original w/ original
Floyd Rose. Very rare. 1-piece mahogany body, setneck,
diMarzio pups.

Amps & stuff:

Carvin X-60A all tube 1x12" combo
Rocktron Chameleon 2000

I've been thinking to show door to the Carvin and get
a power amp and a 2x12" cab instead 'cause I'm only using the power section of the Carvin so it's practically wasting a great amp.
Thanks

Jani
