Someone may want to take a look at the fingering shown for an F13 chord (Variation 1). It directs to use the index finger to fret the 6th & 4th strings at the 1st fret while muting the 5th string. I suspect some folks may be able to do this (not me!) but I think a better fingering strategy for most folks would be:

- Index finger - 6th string, 1st fret (also muting 5th string)[br] - Middle finger - 4th string, 1st fret[br] - Ring finger - 3rd string, 2nd fret[br] - Pinky - bar strings 5 & 6, 3rd fret

On a side note, I'm relatively new to Guitar Tricks and thus far I love the site! I'm very impressed with the structure and content, very nicely done. Keep up the great work!!

Regards,

Dave

[p]Good observation!

I agree with your idea. Sometimes I barre with my index, but separate the chord tones with thumb & fingers, or by strumming separately. Other times I use your suggested fingering. I usually just leave off the high E 9th degree when playing a dom 13 chord.

I cover 13 chords in this tutorial.

Thanks for the heads up on the chord finder! Have fun on GT!
