My name is Tom. I am 62 years young and recently retired. I started over 30 years ago on a Washburn D12 acoustic but family and career got in the way. Always wanted to play electric so bought a Yamaha Pacifica 112 and Fender Mustang I V2 amp. Not anywhere near top of the line but the setup sounds pretty good to me. Life is good as I now get to indulge in my three favorite hobbies...golf, motorcycling, and guitar. Pretty competent on the first two and know GT will help on the third.

Welcome! With the electric setup, now you have an excuse to buy effects pedals, which IMO is an endless source of fun.

Celebrating my 67th birthday today, spending hours on Guitar Tricks. Also, congratulations on retirement. Every day feels like a holiday.

Hi Tom1951, and welcome. I too am (62) and reuniting with guitar after 30+ years of working. Golf and guitar are my top hobbies now as I sold my Harley last year. Got a Fender strat and a Line 6 Spider Jam which I absolutely LOVE. I stumbled upon the Guitar Tricks site one day and was blown away by all the levels of instruction and jam tracks. Since we are entering our golden years, I don't see joining a garage band any time soon but it is a lot of fun playing along with other instruments. Really helps with timing and rhythm. Im living the dream in Florida and picking in the sunshine. What more could a guy want?
Have fun with your new electric and Im sure we'll chat again.

Ampy51,
These are indeed the golden years. I just want to play for me and, hopefully, for my spouse once I get the hang of it. My interests include my old favorites by The Shadows, The Ventures, and some Country such as Johnny Cash, Glen Campbell, George Strait, etc. May even pick up the Blues along the way. When I find myself getting frustrated, I think back on learning to play decent golf and am reminded to be patient and enjoy the journey. Happy Birthday wishes to Edithb to.
