I would play a typical open string A minor

open high E string
1st fret B string
2nd fret G string
2nd fret D string
open A string

and add on the low E string with my pinky the
G note (3 fret)

open high E string
1st fret B string
2nd fret G string
2rd fret D string
open A string
3rd fret G string

Hi, SebastBerg gave you one way of doing it. Another simple way of playing Am/G is to bar across the 5th fret and only play the D string, G string, B string, and the high E string.

E| |----5---------------------
B| |----5---------------------
G| |----5---------------------
D| |----5---------------------
A| |--------------------------
E| |--------------------------

There are many other ways of doing it, but the trick is to find any Am chord shape, and then find a G note that you place as the lowest note.
