Snapping too many strings can be caused by many different things.

Here are a few:
• The bridge of the guitar can have sharp edges
• The angle where the string goes over the bridge can be too steep
• Your picking technique may be a bit too violent :D
• Your pick may be a bit too thick
• Strings are too thin (shouldn't be a problem though)

I used to have big problems with snapping strings, a few high E strings every week. I refined my picking technique, installed a graphite bridge on my strat, strung my Les Paul backwards, and now I never break strings. :)
