amp tone problems
Hello, I have an 83 Jcm 800, i was wondering if i can pick someones brain on how to fix it, it sounds unusually bright now, i turn the treble off and it still has some high end too it, if i turn all the tones to 0 there is no sound, i hoping this is just a simple replace the tone knob job, has anyone ever dealt with this before? thanks.

Sounds like it might have dirty pots. Have you considering doing to more of an electronics forum? Something like DIYAudio.com? You'd probably have better success at getting assistance on your amp.
Having said that. I had an issue with an amp of mine. The pots were scratchy, i went to Home Depot and got some contact cleaner and carefully sprayed into them. Really helped clean them up.

rick
did you open the amp up to do this or what steps did you take?
i have a old jewel that needs some pot cleaning herself,
along with a couple pedals.
RHP
sounds like its time to get that amp serviced.

Yes,
I went to home depot, got some contact cleaner. Took the head out of the cabinet. Then sprayed the contact cleaner into each pot. Got rid of the scratchies.
