anyone got one , played one ?

I was wondering if they were calling them starcasters, because the name ' squire ' was a little tired ?

Anyway I've got one coming on tuesday, so I'll let y'all know !

I've seen them, never tried one. I took them to be to a Squier what a Squier is to a Fender. But that's just guessing with no basis. Please do a review, I for one, would be interested to hear! :)

You presently have the Squier HSS, right? I've seen these on Ebay a lot, and they seem priced lower than Squiers. I took them to be slightly lower end than a Squier, but that's total guessing, not dissing your purchase!!! (I already posted this once, then deleted it, 'cause that ain't right! :) )

Anywho, I am big on cheap guitars, because I believe most Big Name Brand's are over priced. Les Paul reissues at $4 - 5k... It cost $50 for a chunk of 2" mahogany sized for a body for frig sakes. Well, don't get me going! I will be really interested to hear what you think of this Starcaster.

So, how'd it go? I was reading up on them a little later. I'm not sure if that is the actual pic of the actual Strat guitar on the Fender site. The write up says it's 22 fret, but the pic shows 21.

I did notice a couple of positive things about the Starcaster..., 11 screws in the pick guard instead of 8 in the Squire, multi-ply pick guard as compared to these Affinity specs http://www.squierguitars.com/products/view_specs.php?full_partno=0310600&name=Strat%26reg%3B+%28Rosewood%29...

Couldn't find too much in detailed specs on the Starcaster though, body wood, etc.

I never understood why Fender brought that name back when it wasn't a reissue. I too prefer cheap guitars... and have become very comfortable with Squiers.

Funny how Fender has Squier but wants to be in the low price point market as well.

:o
I play a cheap electric guitar.
