We have arranged with Sweetwater.com to continue the Guitar Tricks Gear Review Giveaway program throughout 2009.
If you don't know already, the way this works is:
1. We select a list of gear we are interested in.
2. Sweetwater sends me one of these items.
3. I write a review of it for the Guitar Tricks News.
4. We give away the item to one lucky Guitar Tricks member.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 each month.
So we are now on Step 1: list the gear we are interested in.
What would you like to see us review in the newsletter? Please put your suggestions in this thread and I will take the best and/or most popular suggestions and send them along to Sweetwater.
You can suggest anything you want, and sometimes (like last month) they surprise us with something expensive, but usually we are reviewing gear that costs in the hundreds rather than thousands of dollars.
Sounds like fun? Please give us your best ideas so we have an interesting year!
thanks!
Jon

A small tube amp from Traynor, Laney, or Peavey would be pretty sweet.
Edit:
Nevermind on the Laney. They only have two of the higher end models.
Peavey: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/ValveK212/
Also doesn't look like they carry Traynor but it wouldn't hurt to ask imo.
All else fails maybe a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe or Hot Rod Deville or a Vox AC15 but I would personally favor something with a little more gain. :p

How about one of the new Peavey Vypyr modelling amps with the accessory footswitch controller. Espescially the solid state 30 or 75 watt model. I'd love to hear what you guys think about these amps to be used in a band situation - is it loud enough, etc. Thanks.

There seem to be a lot vendors that are creating systems for Guitar modelling and digital effects. These are in amps as well as standalone "boxes". I would like to see you to review some these like the POD X3, POD X3 Live and the Line 6 Spider amps. It would be interesting to see some comparisons of like products: Guitar modeling Amps vs. other modeiling Amps or two Effects and modeling boxes or modeling Amps vs. the pre-Amp modling boxes ...

I'm looking for a small flexible all tube amp, allowing me for Jazz< Blues, Pop and Easy listeing type of music.
I'm considering the Fender Champ XD, the Peavey ValveKing 112, the BlackStar HT-5, the Koch STudioTone, the Rivera Sedona Lite, the BlackHeart BH5-112.
I'm wndering about the huge price differences, not all to be explained from the brand the amp originates from. Hey: an flexible all tube amp from Fender for approx 300 €. In what fantastic age do we live.
COuld your arrange for a comparson test and simply hand out all tests?
Any amp individual is also fine, of course.
Start with the Fender please!
:-)

The new Ibanez Montage guitar seems like an all-in-one, easy to use ax to have when you just don't have room to keep more than one guitar on stage with you. I'd be interested in it's actual weaknesses and strengths from your point of view.

Here are some suggestions:
Effects and multi-effects pedals
Amps
Recording devices/processors/software
Mics
And why don't we go all out and say different brands and styles of guitars...
I'm game for any review of a product.

I'd love to see you do a review on the Epiphone,Masterbilt Accoustic Guitars. The 12 fret would be a good one to start with. Thanks Also like to say, this is the best site I've ever found for learning the guitar. This site will never be beaten... You all are at the top of your game. Buff

I'd love to see reviews on the moderately priced Martins. For instance, the DCX1KE acoustic electric.

when I found out that it was available to US Citizens only I almost deleted the page and went elsewhere. I was looking for information on the Dark Fire at the time, and not online lessons.
I've decided to stick around for a bit and see what I can learn. I am enjoying playing the guitar again for the first time in many years . Thank you Guitar Tricks for the instruction. How's about giving the Canadians, Aussies, Brits, etc. a shot at the giveaways as well! (I'd pay the duties and shipping!)
Congrats on Obama!
