Play the 5th fret of the e string with your index finger, and then put your third finger down on the 7th fret without picking again. That's a 'hammer-on'. Pull your third finger off again with a slight twist to make the 5th fret note sound again - that's a 'pull-off'.

Going repeatedly between hammer-ons and pull-offs is then trilling. A dead note is a muted click rather than a proper note. Legato is playing in a fluid style, normally with hammers and pulls and minimal picking. A slide is exactly that - e.g. play that 5th fret note again, and slide your finger up to the 7th fret while keeping it down in the neck so the sound of the slide from the 5th to the 7th is continuous.

The tremolo (AKA Whammy) bar is the metal rod sticking out of your bridge (if you have a tremolo bridge). Using a floyd rose or similar you can raise or lower the pitch of notes by pulling the bar up or pushing it down. You can do all sorts of mad crap actually...

I don't know if I explained that all too well, but as a friendly pointer, worry about one of these at a time if you're starting out.

Hammers are a good place to start, but the pull-off is actually more tricky than you might think. It's important to get the notes sounding at the same volume, which will take some time and practice.

take it slow dude, and it'll all fall into place in no time... There are lessons on this site covering all this stuff, and it's all over the wider internet too.... have a search man....

Fourth bar last 2 notes is a legato slide. Picked once, slide twice.
