distortion + headpones
will you hear anything if you insert a headphone on the output of a distortion pedal. or any pedal.,. with out the amp

Not very much, if anything cause you're plugging into a line level output that requires amplification. It'll also probably just come out of one side cause you're plugging a stereo 1/4" plug into a mono.

Schmange is right. You should look into a cheap little amp to use with headphones.

yeah, if you want to listen through headphones its best to just go through your amp's headphone out.
