I have been searching for a beginners electric guitar. im in to shredding and some jazz and classical.

im in a low budget hehehe

I found this fernando strat in my local store its not quite a high class guitar but its worth the price. tried it on a Marshall MG amp and it did quite well. easy on the pocket too

then I tried an ibanez, I think it was a GRX model and I was fully satisfied with its sound but its going to take a few months of saving and lunchless days to buy that.

well here is the question now since Im still starting out w/c of the two choice is best. the fact that im a beginer and have no idea on what kind of guitar I reli want w/c should I buy?

I'm guessing since you are a beginner that u are an aspiring shredder, jazz and classical player. Those my friends will make you an extremely advaced player but umm i guess you would need a nice all around guitar on a budget. My suggestion would probably be Ibanez. Any GRX and GAX would do the trick. I have owned both and actually play the genres u mentioned above and with a few modifications to the guitars you are ready to go with a real nice guitar for a low price.

ic is the ibanez bridge ok? i wnt to do some dive bombs.( Im planning to modify the pickups with a seymour screaming demon on the bridge and a jazz master on the neck. would it be a good combination?

I really like the ibanez grx when I tried it compared to that strat.

so im going to have lunchless days again to save for that guitar hehehehe

fender mexican is hard to find in my place. and stupid store owners sell it for an expensive price. thanks for the advice I will find and try ur suggestion

From what I can see on the Musican's Friend website, it looks like the GRX has a regular old Strat style vibrato which means that you're only going to be able to get away with subtle stuff; if you dive bomb, you will go out of tune.

Personally, I really dislike Ibanez guitars and basses but if that's what feels best to you, then that's what you should get.

hmm i agree for the whole dive bombs you will be best suited for a guitar with a nice floyd rose which i don't recommend unless you can get help or have a good amount of time learning how to set one up properly. The GRX don't have them for what i see, These RG prestige series seem maybe a lil more towards what you want. I suggest playing any of these before you buy them btw. I personally like ibanez cause they feel strong yet have really nice necks. Hvae you looked into ESP or Jackson?

if im not mistaken esp and jackson are built for metal/rock etc genre. im looking for a versatile guitar wer'in i can play some jazz/blues and some classical. I think I better stick with the grx. even if i wont be able to do some dive bombs. one thing I hate floyds i heard that it very hard to change strings with that thing.

how about I use looking tuners will the guitar go out of tune If i do some dive bombs?

thanks IbanezmutESP, Raskolnikov, and Polera for the advice

hey, I say go for the ibanez, I have an ibanez GRX 40, although mine doesn't have a whammy bar, it has the trem, just not the arm... so I don't divebomb, but me, like a retard, sometimes while playing, will push down on the trem with my hand to dive it, and it stays in perfect tune, so I don't think you'll have a problem... I play my ibanez GRX 40 everyday, and it works for pretty much everything, especially since it's got one humbucker and two single coil, switch to the humbucker for rock and metal, then switch to singles when you want classical, jazz, folk, etc. although, I'm not sure you are looking at the same exact guitar, you might be looking at a grx 20, which has 2 humbuckers, but you could still probably play all kinds of music on it, it would just sound warmer rather then brighter.

It's not so much the tuners as what happens to the string as all of that tension goes away then comes back again: what happens is (especially at the nut) that the string moves a little as you push down on the bar, but when you let go again, it doesn't come back exactly the same. Worse, some strings are more off than others.

There's a few tricks you can use to minimise this problem but the only way to fully get around it is a locking trem with a locking nut which, consequently, makes changing strings a royal pain in the heiny.

PS: You can use practically any guitar for any style of music -- go with the guitar that feels and sounds best to you.

Locking tuners will help greatly and a quality nut(cut well and of good material/mabey lubed...not plastic). If you use the trem to dive, make sure to tug up a little on the return. The springs in the back of the guitar attaching the tremolo to the claw also make a difference. You may need more tension(more springs)or less(alternatley)...just fiddle until you get a stability your happy with.

If you do anything to increase stability,I would say get a good nut replacment first. Its generally cheap and will improve overall play/tone/stability greatly(I used a graphtec on my old fixed brige ESP and it stayed in tune well...much better than the stock nut).

I still can't get over these videos...proof that tuning stability even better than a double locking tremolo is possible.

heres the link...http://zacharyguitars.com/VideoFiles.htm

check the files out.I wish all non-locking trem guitars stayed in in tune like those...
