This is an idea that poped in my head the other day, so I thought I would somewhat come up with a design for it. My question is, does something like this already exist? I'm sure it does, so where could I find one? And if it doesn't exist, please delete this thread so nobody steals my idea...lol
Does this exist?

I've never seen anything like that before. I don't know if it exists or not, but it should.

I don't think it exists as an all in one however you could probably put one together using an A/B box, a loop selector (from your amp), a midi controller and a high end FX unit (and also may be an old Boss multi-pedal stomp box controller.
Man it looks complicated and I think it would probably take up to 4 stomps to change "patches" !

the purpose of it is to be able to use all your favorite individual stomp boxes like a multi effects unit, and the pedalboard would controll the midi unit as far as turning effects on and off. Picture a G-Major/Force with a big voodoo labs midi controller pedal. That's basically how it would work, only using your own effects :D

I'm pretty sure something similar already exist, because I've seen several guitatrist with individual effects pedal sitting in a rack, and the guitarist using a midi controller. I just don't think one as versatile as this exist.......yet :D

BTW, I have a more detailed drawing with a more exact signal chain layout. So, how could I go about finding out if one already exists, and if not, could I pattent(sp?) something like this without very precise details, and sell the idea to someone? Or, would I have to build a unit myself before it could be pattented/copyrighted?

If no such product exists it probably wouldn't be hard to get a patent. I'm pretty sure the exact policy varies from state to state. For example, I think in california they charge a small fee. I don't think you would need too detailed a blueprint or an actual prototype, just something clearly identifyable.
