What's up with this new fad I'm starting to notice with turning marshall 4x12 cab's on their side? I've noticed several bands doing this.
New fad with Marshall cab's

Drunk ? Stupid ? Made the roady unhappy ?
Casters effect a degree of acoustic isolation. Unless you are on an acoustic isolation platform, placing a cab on its side means a lot of the bass will be lost through the floor instead of being projected out.

I figured they do it b/c it send's the sound out over a wider area instead of straight out and up (assuming it's an angled cab).

If the majority of the sound is coming out of a PA it is really not going to make any difference to the overall projection (Unlike mic placement which will be paramount). All that will happen is a lack of bottom end.

Sounds pretty stupid to me. I think they loook and sound just fine standing straight up. I mean, a 4x12 is gonn be loud regardless. Is it only with marshalls?
