Description

It's hard to believe that a small piece of plastic can effect your tone so drastically. You should give strong consideration to the type of pick you use. Try many to see what best suits your tone. Not only does the guage (thickness) of a pick effect the tone, but also the size and material from which it is made. Some picks will have a smooth, rounded tip while others have a sharp tip. Some will feel strange in your picking hand while others will feel more natural. Also, different picks will be used for different guitars and different parts played. For instance, you'd use a different pick to strum a tender rock ballad than you would to blaze an arena rock guitar solo. Try many picks to find what is right for you, but use this lesson as a guide to see how tone is effected.
