Now that you know the most basic version of the classic Bluegrass lick, let's add a couple of more notes to it.

The previous notes will stay the same, and how we use it will also be the same. All we're going to do is to add some more notes to lead into it.

Now on beat 2 we'll do a slide from 1st to 2nd fret with our 1st finger. If this is too hard in the context, you can just leave out the slide and go straight to the 2nd fret. After that we go to the open D-string, pick the 2nd fret (exactly where we had it before), but now immediately pull off back to the open string.

So now we have “1 and a 2 e and 2”. Then pick the open G-string, just like before and you have a more advanced version of that same lick.
