In this lesson we'll check out the simplest version of a classic bluegrass lick that can be used to signify the end of a section or fill in the space between vocal phrases.

So all this really is is going from the 6th scale degree, which in the key of G is right here in the 2nd fret of the D-string to the root note, which in this case is the open G-string. The note on the D-string happens on the “and of 2” and the root note happens on beat 3.
