The chorus is immediately distinguished from verse by shifting with a fuller, repetitive strum and shifts from the loose, washy feeling of the verse to a more rhythmic, driving feel, shifting the vibe.

The chords change and we hear the first C Major (b VII) chord and the first full G Major chord. Lines 1 and 3 are played straight. Line 2 returns early like the intro. The 4th bar chords change, A Major on beat 1 and we add a full G Major on beat 2, coming home early again (like the intro) for the D Major chord. Note that the first time we’ve changed chords on beat 2, and how it underpins the lyric.
