Description
In classic funk fashion, a song like this that vamps on seemingly one chord for an eternity, you've go to have a harmonic and/or rhythmic breakdown in order to break things up.
The part is a really simple but very effective chromatic part starting from Cmaj6 and and moving up to C# and back to the root (Dminor) again.
The way this part interplays with the melody on top of it with the horns and the vocal melody is what makes it cool: playing of the 6th of the C, the 3rd of the C# and back to the root D. We'll show this horn part in one of the next lessons.
With the wah rhythm, you can do 8th notes or play with it however you want.
