Here's an introduction the capo and how it works. You'll hear a capo used in the tunes of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles. By using a capo, you can change the key of a song without changing the fingerings of the chords you use. It's a great tool and it enables you to keep the open voicings used to play songs.

Be sure not to bend the strings when putting the capo onto your guitar neck. That would put your guitar out of tune and is the most common mistake guitar players make when using a capo. Some varieties of capos are better at not bending the strings out of tune than others. Choose a capo that best suits your needs.
