While often used in R&B and jazz, playing with a swing feel has also made it's way into the rock guitar world. You can hear examples of a swing feel in the music of everyone from Coldplay to John Mayer to Steely Dan and furthermore. As opposed to the shuffle, which is more on top of the beat, playing with a swing feel allows to play with a more laid back feel. Using a series of major chords, we are doing to demonstrate this feel with a mixture of barre chords and open string chords. Working with the metronome at 94 bpm, try this example in the swing style of Robbie Robertson (The Band.)
