Chiming in as a fellow beginner who is slightly over the same hurdle. Probably the biggest factor that keeps me going (and keeps this journey fun) is when something I've been trying to learn seemingly snaps into place.

That is, reiterating what others have said above, I keep practicing and trying to make it work, then one day I sit down and it just works. Obviously it's not magic, just persistence and patience and, IMHO, not 'watching water boil' because that will make it seem like you're not getting anywhere. Keep practicing and have faith that your brain and your muscle memory are processing everything when you're NOT practicing.


It's $#$&ing amazing when you pick up your guitar for another practice session and your fingers just do it. As soon as you remove your expectation that it should happen is usually when it does. Good luck!
