Buy yourself a sax/flute book (single lines) And work it up from there. And also, READ READ READ, the more you do it, the better you get, no secrets there...
Find some books with lots of music in them (real books are quite difficult for a start, maybe a kids' songbook or whatever) and try to decipher them... Take your time, enjoy...
