Acoustic Fingerpicking Step-by-Step, Level 1C
Description
Here is a fingerstyle arpeggio pattern to play with songs in 6/8 time.
There are six steps to this pattern. Each step represents one eighth note in a full measure containing a total of six eighth notes.
1. Play the bass note of the chord with your thumb.
2. Play the third string with your thumb.
3. Play the 2nd string with your index finger.
4. Play the 1st string with your middle finger.
5. Play the 2nd string with your index finger.
6. Play the third string with your thumb.
As with the other fingerpicking patterns you have been studying in this series, the only thing you will vary about this pattern at this time as you go from chord to chord, is which note you begin the pattern with. Always begin with the bass note that is appropriate to the chord.
