First let's look at some ways you can strip down the basic Tic Toc pattern to work at faster and faster tempos.

This ultimately comes down to simplifying the rhythm by leaving out subdivisions. If you look at the basic tic toc pattern the normal way to count it would be “1, 2, and, 3, 4, and”. Now with cut time we'll count it “1 and a 2 and a”. Again it sounds the same, but it feels more relaxed this way.
