Before we start digging into all the playing, let's briefly talk about the gear and the sounds that I'll be using

For this tutorial I'll be back on my trusty old Telecaster, as always on the bridge pickup going straight into a modeled version of a small Fender tube amp. I have a little bit of reverb and a little extra treble. The amp is turned up to 6 out of 10, so I'm getting a little bit of natural overdrive out of it. If you use any overdrive at all for these examples, be very careful not to use too much. Rather too clean than too dirty! Notice that when I strum a full barre-chord, you can still hear all the individual notes. If I turn the amp up to 9 out of 10, you start to lose that. If you're playing an actual amp, and you don't want to get too loud, just leave your tone clean for these examples.
