This song is pretty much as simple as it gets when it comes to gear and tone. I'll just be using my steel string acoustic, and strumming the strings with a medium pick. Getting the right pick is important, because we'll be blending together intricate single note lines with full chord strumming. So make sure the pick that you're using is comfortable for both single notes and strumming before you move on. I'll be getting the sound that you hear in this video from a combination of my built-in L.R. Baggs pickup/microphone and the overhead mic that I'm also talking through.

Other than your guitar, you will need a capo. Capo's cost anywhere from $5 and up, and they're a great tool for any guitar player to have.

Even if you don't have a steel-string acoustic at the moment it's never a bad idea to just learn the parts and the notes anyway. If you get the notes and the sounds under your fingers and in your head, you can always replace the guitar down the line.
