The tune starts off with a mandolin ripping some killer leads, which we've adapted for the guitar. The intro starts off with just the lead melody in the key of D. It's based out of the D major pentatonic scale, but also adds the flat 7 note as well.

The band kicks in modulating up to G, and we play the signature lick/melody of the tune. Now we are based out of G major pentatonic, but also throwing in some G blues. This is notable, since even the vocal melodies are based off the G major scale, but also add in bluesy notes. This is a trademark of the bluegrass style.

These licks can be tricky to play up to speed. Be sure to start at a much lower speed and make sure you nail each note cleanly and accurately before upping the tempo.
