I'm using a Strat style guitar for this tutorial, but any guitar with single coil pickups in the bridge position will provide you with the tones needed to authentically reproduce the guitar parts. Generally speaking, the guitars have a more focused and bright sound that work well in the modern pop/rock genre.

As far as amps go, any Marshall or Fender style tube amplifier will easily do the trick here. Turn up the pre-amp gain to get some medium crunch, which will add some punch and weight to the riffs. For the verse sections, you’ll want to roll down your guitars volume pot to bring the dynamic down and make the parts a bit cleaner. Check out the settings I used for this tutorial:

Marshall Plexi Model: Drive: 85% Bass: 45% Mid: 75% Treb: 75% Presence: 45%

Spring Reverb: Wet/Dry Mix: 40%
