Nirvana loved sneaking in acoustic guitars to add depth and character to their songs, and "All Apologies" is no exception.

For the first verse you'll simply be playing Db through the whole thing, you're only fretting the Ab on the G string and leaving the top two strings out - dark and moody sounding. The guitar is tuned the same way as our electric, drop Db.

In the first chorus when we move to the Gb, the acoustic guitar plays this really nice groove that emphasizes the upbeats with a Gbsus chord. We're playing Gb and the octave, and then (check this) Cb directly underneath. This is a production idea that is really quiet in the mix but adds a really cool vibe to the song.

The last part with acoustic is in the outro - you'll come in and strum 4 bars of the Db chord like we did in the first verse, adding a really nice wooden and organic tone to the noise outro.
