I'm using a Les Paul style guitar in this tutorial, but you can use any guitar with a humbucker pickup in the bridge position to get the tones needed for this tune. The humbucker provides plenty of power and clarity for your crunch and your clean settings.

AMP: The song features the use of 2 distinct tones: crunch and clean. If your amp has channel switching, set one channel for a nice clean sound - gain up for a bit more sustain without it getting distorted. Set the other channel for a nice distorted crunch, but nothing too over the top or heavy metal sounding. You could also set your amp for a clean sound and kick in an overdrive or distortion pedal for the crunch parts. Here's the settings I used for this tutorial:

CRUNCH: (Marshall Tube Amp Model)
Drive: 100% Bass: 50% Mid: 45% Treble: 75% Presence: 75%

CLEAN: (Fender Twin Model)
Drive: 55% Bass: 20% Mid: 60% Treble: 65% Presence: 55%

UNIVIBE EFFECT: (Lead Guitar only)
Speed 2.45Hz Depth: 80% Wed/DryMIX: 70%

The lead guitar in the intro and solo sections uses a Univibe effect that mangles and warbles the sound when tweaked with extreme settings. This is an effective choice that really goes with the lyric of the song.
