The verses of the song have two parts, or "halves" to them. In the first, you'll be playing single notes while picking 1/8th note triplets. You do this for two bars on D, one bar on Bb, two beats on G, then a beat each on the passing tones A and C. The most important (and tricky!) thing about this part is getting your triplets consistent and in a groove.

In second half of the verses, you play a very cool sequence of power chords and single notes. You start with a D power chord for two beats, then play A, F, and G in 1/4 note triplets over the next two beats. You then land on a Bb power chord for the first two beats of the next bar, followed by another 1/4 note triplet lick: F, E, and C. Then you play on the one, five, and octave single notes on the A, Bb, and G power chords, followed one beat each of A minor: the open power chord and then a 2 note octave voicing on the B and E string at the fifth fret.

Notice in the second half of the verses, how the drums change the pattern a bit to follow the guitar rhythms!
