Guitar Glossary: Anhemitonic

Anhemitonic

A scale which doesn't include semitones. Examples of this are the "black key" pentatonic and the Japanese Yo scale. Semitones are an interval of a single fret, so there are only two-fret jumps (or tone intervals) in anhemitonic scales.
