Anyone likes Megadeth? If you do or you don't, post it. And of course say why.

I hate the group!
Cause they are sell-outs!!!
They are as mainstream as a band can get.
No,no just kidding!!
I like his voice, and there heavy/fast riffs.

That last Megadeth album bit. I was
a fan since the 80's and it was great when
marty freidman joined. I wish they'ed stick
to progressive speed metal(RUST IN PEACE) and
leave the boy meets girl, boy loses girl,
boy's a head case tunes to the new bands out
there.

Yeesss. Megadeth is great band, mostly.
I have four Megadeth's records:
Rust in Peace, Coutndown to Extinction, Youthanasia and Cryptic Writings.
I think that Rust in Peace is absolutely greastesr of 'em, but CtE is not bad neither.
Youthansia is also good, but... Cryptic Writings - what a disapointment.
But still, Megadeth is one of the greatest american heavy metal band...
But it can't beat the finnish metal bands... >:-D

Marty Friedman, Dave Mustaine = Greatest metal guitar duo ever
+
Nick Menza as their drummer. You've got the best metal group ever! Too bad Marty and Nick left though

Marty left??? ****!!! When did this happen and why?

Dude - I loved Megadeth while I was growing up and when 'Countdown...' came out...
WHOA - it just blew my mind! The solo from 'Symphony of Destruction' will go down as one of my favorites ever...

Unfortunately, when 'Youthanasia' came out, I was just a little bit dissapointed and since then I sort of lost touch with 'em.

Peace -
Damos

P.S. - I agree dude - Friedman and Mustaine... what a combination!!!

Actually Marty, and Nick left sometime in '99. Yeah, Countdown was a great album, but I think that Dave is just tired of the same old stuff and feels like experimenting.

errr.... Dave's a meglomaniac and doesn't work well with others.
Megadeth was great up until Peace Sells. Once Chris (I forgot his last name at the moment) left they lost their sound. All those killer solos on Peace Sells were his work and that album is what put Megadeth over the top. If Dave Mustaine's ego would just take a vacation I bet things would improve as far as the music coming from Megadeth lately.

I got into Megadeth a few weeks ago, after purchasing Rust In Peace (which is supposedly their "best" album). There's this great site on the internet that shows how to play each song on that album (very accurate) and it's FREE! i recommend it. go to http://www.geocities.com/randyinc_nz/ if you're interested...

What Megadeth's best album was is questionable upon your own taste. As far as guitarist go, Friedman goes far beyond Chris Poland's speed picking, and book of tricks and licks. Try and get Chris Poland to use the whole tone scale as melodically as Friedman... I don't think so. One fact I do know is that Megadeth got a whole lot bigger after Countdown came out. Why? Better song writing and kick a$$ lead playing.

BTW- To the "Whatever happened to Chris Poland," question. Dave kicked him out. Everyone but Dave Ellefson (bass); Marty, and Nick who decided to leave to pursue other areas of their musical talent, were kicked out of the band by Dave.

BadHorsie... I know he got kicked out.... Dave's Ego takes up too much room in that band. As to the "Better Songwriting" comment.... uh... so you thing the songs on Cryptic Writings are better than the songs on Peace Sells? Well I guess that's just a matter of taste. I will admit that technically Freidman can run circles around Polland. However Polland had a much better feel to his leads they actually emphasised the feeling of the song instead of just being a lead over some riff somewhere. Friendman's good, no doubt about that but he lacks in emotion. Leads for the simple sake of a lead are pointless in my opinion. At times he might as well simply run scales. Oh well different strokes I guess.

Buzz, this is gettin' to turn into a good argument here, but more like a debate. Instead of taking up more board space between the two of us, though, why don't you send me and email so we can talk about this some more. Peace!

Dave Mustain said (at a concert) their next album is going to be more like Coundown to Extinction & Youthanasia than Risk.
