Measure 1 (or bar 1) is simply a reference showing all 3 chords to be used in the example progression. The practice tune actually starts at measure 2.

They happen to be on the same page, so the notation transcriber just made them part of the same overall measure counting.

Make sense?

The turnaround is traditionally the last 2 measures of a 12 bar blues. So the turnaround will be both measures 11 & 12 of this blues (A - I chord & E - V chord). Or if you are following the numbers in red, that's measures 12 & 13.

Anders covers this explicitly 2 lessons ahead in that tutorial.

Hope that helps!

Many thanks Sascha Very much appreciated? It now makes perfect sense and now feel a little silly in asking the question ? However it has demonstrated what a resource the forum is. Lot to learn
