Good Instructional Videos....
Anyone know of any good videos to recommend. I'm making a trip to the music store tomorrow... just looking for some ideas.

Malmsteen's are usualy showing off vids that doesn't show too much , but if you're into his style , you may find some usefull licks ... Would never recommend that to a beginner.
Petrucci - Great video , unique & usefull info for intermediate & advanced players.
Michael Romeo - Great video too , shows some of his own (symphony x) songs ... Cool advanced techniques.
Michael Angelo - Get that one if you find it , I have a clip from it ,read many great reviews and it was recomended by "online" friends of mine too (but I can't find it anywher here :( ) ... Seems to be awesome.
Marty Friedman - Great stuff if you're into exotic guitar playing.
Paul Gilbert - Great stuff , but are basically rock with some shred.
Eric Johnson - Usefull info , specialy if you're into his music.
Chris Impeliteri - Only seen few clips from his vids ... Very fast technique, but doesn't seem so interesting IMHO.

I'm not a beginner, I would say I'm intermediate. I'm just more of a visual learner and am looking to branch out into some different styles. So, I'll see what I can find and go from there. Thanks for your replies.

It's originally sold at metalmethod.com and I would highly recommend it.It doesn't teach theory or anything like that, but it will make you very efficient at picking and I found it to be very inspiring.A new revised version just came out on DVD by the way.

Auron - Thanx dude :) , will check if they ship into my place.
Is most of the video just teaching licks from the song "speed kills" (the video is called speed kills , that's why I'm confused) ? I already play that song , that's why I'm asking.

No it mostly has exercises with the various types of picking sweep picking, economy picking, alternate picking, and hammer on and pull off exercises etc. They are licks not from the song just ones he made up as an example so you can make up your own stuff.

Brett Garsed's - Rock Fusion.
great player, wicked techniques, mega excellent songwriter.

Brett Garsed is a mean player, I bought and album where he played with T J Helmrich and Barry Willis (Tribal Tech bass player). I've not listened to it in ages actually, never really got into it but I'm glad you reminded me I have it! Helmrich is a fabulous player too, I heard a bit of his playing on some guitar technique magazine, he did this mega harmonised tapping thing which sounded absolutely beautiful.
If I couldn't laugh at myself how could I laugh at someone less ridiculous?

Let me know how that video is. I was actually going to order the whole set, the one for $105. Comes with like 6 DVDS and Speed Kills and something else I believe.
Seems pretty reasonable to me. Keep in touch.

Ok Speed Kills arrived yesterday. My thoughts on the DVD:
It has 4 Sections.
1.Speed Kills where Michael teaches some lessons on different shredding techniques, from Picking to Arpeggio sweeps. Its great to see how he plays and picks things youve heard him play and he explains things well. First he talks about the technique, then he shows an animated TAB similar to Power Tab, Then he plays it real slow so you can see how it works, then he plays it medium before finally he shows off in ultra high speed. This was the Original Video released some years ago.
2. Exercises. You get about 4 sheets of paper with the different exercises michael teaches tabbed out. You can go straight to the exercises on the DVD for practise so you dont have to flick through the whole program.
3. Revisited. This is the new part added for the DVD release. It has Michael now answering some questions and playing some cool stuff.
4. The Double Neck Guitar. This is where Michael explains how the double neck guitar he plays came about. For anyone who hasnt seen this its not a normal double neck with one on the top and one on the bottom its actually a left handed guitar that connects to a right handed guitar to create like a big V.
He plays it both hands at the same time, one side playing some rythm the other playing a solo. Quite amazing to watch. He also plays it some other freaky ways.
So all in all i think it is a great buy and if your in the USA its only $20!
If your outside like me it costs whatever the conversion plus nearly the same for shipping.
The only thing i though was disapointing, and im really spiltting hairs here, is that it doesnt come in a normal DVD case or anything, it comes in like a clear skinny CD-R case that doesnt really fit in a DVD stand. But hey i wasnt buying it for the case and the DVD is excellent.

How are the explanations? I ordered that a two days ago, mostly just to see him play. I think it will be worth it, he's quite amazing.

I thought he explains things pretty well, and the animated tabs plus slow examples he does are very good.
I bought it really just to see him play aswell but there are some great tricks to be learnt by watching and with the exercises.
Very helpful and awsome to watch.
