Targeting chord tones.

Hey Dave,

I've been going through your FB lessons on this and just want to check I've got the concept down. Because your chords are 7s, then there are 4 notes available that should/can be targetted. If the progression was all major chords, then that would reduce the available notes to 3?

Hi Tinpan,

Yes, the 7th chords (major 7, minor 7, and dominant 7) have four different notes (1, 3, 5, 7) and can be arranged in any order. These are great 'target' notes to end phrases on. Major and minor chords have three notes (1, 3, 5).
