Well, I think this will always be an 95% guitar in mind. I do like it for all the good points - which are really good, but I have to remind myself I just paid $1300 for this and there is a small blemish in the finish and some pitting in the saddles. And for all the talk about how PRS carefully monitors QC, the 2 issues shown in the vid should not be on a guitar at this price point. I can point to any number of my other off brand makes made in Asia to illustrate this. Squire and Epiphone are killing QC.

Anyway, I like the guitar and I am keeping it. I just wish for the $1300 I didn't have the flaws. And I should repeat what said in the vid, I just took this out of the box this afternoon from the dealer. So he hadn't put hands on it and neither had I before this time.

Sorry for your scratch on the body of a new guitar. I know how it must have felt after you brought it home and discovered it in the video. Around 4 months ago I got a 35th SE tobacco finish from my local guitar shop. I like playing this guitar better than my American elite Strat.

My question is though, are you talking US dollars? The reason I’m asking is that they list for $999.00, I got mine from my LGS for $940 with tax. If you were charged $1300, I’d be taking it back and order from a different guitar shop.

However, that blue finish is awesome.

Yes it came as a bit of a surprise actually. That vid was in real time, and I just kind of stared at it for a bit. Normally I like to install my own scratches. But it plays beautifully and as mentioned its not going anywhere. That price is in CAD, we are normally 50% more than US prices.

I didnt mention it in the vid but the guitar was a special order and took 2 weeks to arrive. So there was some definite anticipation and when Phil called me that it was in I was over in a flash.

William, congratulations on the NGD. That is one gorgeous guitar. As you probably know from some of my posts, I am a huge PRS fan. So this will perhaps sound slightly defensive. But I think those defects you experienced are the exception rather than the rule.

But you are absolutely correct. "For the $1300"..it shouldn't.. "have the flaws".

I hope you enjoy your new guitar for a very long time.

Wow that's beautiful William. Congrats on the new purchase. It's too bad with the flaws they didn't discount it as a B-stock item. That's how I got my acoustic so cheap and today I still can't see any flaws in it. Nevertheless it's a gorgeous instrument and I hope you have many fun years of playing it.

Thanks matonanjin2 and Moe.

Good point Moe and something you will find interesting. The dealer - Long & McQuade will take the guitar back no question - which I don't think I will be doing, I do like the guitar. But they showed me another which came from "Godin" (seriously Moe) that was brought into stock as a B grade due to cosmetic flaws in the goldtop and the discount was pretty significant.

Quick update. The dealer - Long and McQuade - contacted PRS. Saddles can be replaced. No offer of a discount in regards to the factory flaw in the finish (see video).

However, L&M provides great support so they offered to bring in another guitar and make an exchange, or provide for a full refund.

I think the way to go will be to bring in a new guitar. I enjoy playing the guitar and will rack this one up as a bad day at the factory.
