Okay Tom on the verse what the people, your saying count 123 123 12 = 8
However the tab shows striking the chord 10 times. I have it sounding good and think I am over doing it here. according to the tab you play a sixteenth strum and another sixteenth strum deading twice and sixteenth strum and then a sixteenth but not the last to beats. I think I should just listen to you and not look at the tab.

I am just a little confused with the way your saying to count the sixteenth strum. If I am not making sense to you don't reply because it just might be my lack of knowledge on how to read. It's been many years since I took lesson and I plan on going back.

In any event I have the song sounding nice, maybe I am being to precise

Yes, that could be confusing! The overall feel and rhythm of the verse has accents grouped into two measures or 8 quarter notes as follows; 12312312 accents on 1. However, there is an underlying 16th note feel which could be felt like 1234561234561234 with accents still on 1.
With the rests you are striking the the strings 10 times per rhythm cycle (2measures). You have the right idea to use your ears primarily. Sometimes the mind can get in there and muck things up. Other times it is very helpful! I hope this helps!

Good luck, Tom~
